For the first time, Camp Magic is for Mum's too!
This fresh new "program within a program" will run for one week only this year (July 12-16th). It is five half-days beginning at 9:00am, and finishing up at 12:30pm.
WHAT DO WE DO?First of all, find someone to take care of the kids! Either enroll them in camp for the week, or find a babysitter, 'cause this is YOUR TIME, Mum! Time to give back to yourself, let your hair down, and have some fun.
IS IT SIMILAR TO THE CHILDREN'S PROGRAM?Yes and no. Yes, there are some similarities, like the fact that you will have amazing stories, hand-drumming, swing poi, conceptual drawing and collage (don't worry it's real simple!). Yes, it's still an arts and rhythm based program. Yes, the priority is fun...
 
However, this is a program especially designed for women who want to learn new skills and gather together in an amazing community. The three main areas we will be focusing on are hand-drumming, ribbon (swing) poi, and yoga. There is absolutely no experience necessary in any of these areas.
WHO IS GOING TO BE RUNNING THIS?Katherine McLeod will lead this one week of wonderful mornings. She has loads of experience facilitiating groups of adults, and founded the WOW! Women's Drum Circle.
 
Deb Thurley is a member of the WOW! Women's Drum Circle. She is also a trained yoga teacher who has her own studio at Wessex Estate.
 
Together Katherine and Deb will work to create a week of celebration, warmth, rhythm and fun.
END OF WEEK PERFORMANCEThis is the best part of all!! Many who have performed with the WOW! Women's Drum Circle say there is nothing quite like it. Working towards a small drumming and poi performance at the end of the week is a fantastic common goal, and helps to build the community amongst participants.
 
The women's drumming and poi performance will lift off the end-of-week show on Friday afternoon at 2:30pm. We will open up the space for children and parents with loads of rhythm and colour!
