StaffKatherine McLeodKatherine is thrilled to be helping start up our Melbourne branch of Camp Magic. She loves threading the theme story throughout the camp atmosphere, and helping to create an exciting vibe that the children can walk into each day. Please see Katherine's website to learn more about her work, or visit her biography in our Camp Crew section.
Cinzia CiaramicoliWhen Cinzia was little, she wanted to fly. She used to try all kinds of tricks, including flapping her arms with big leaves from the garden. One day she discovered the secret and special dust of a butterfly's wings, and knew that she had found the perfect solution. Gently wiping the dust from the wings and rubbing it onto herself, she, well, she's still trying fly! Aside from her childhood flight endevours, Cinzia spent much time in the world of story. Listening to her grandmother spin tales on the balcony overlooking the piazza, or telling her own as a teenager. This led her to working with the Abraxa theatre company in her native Italy. The company specialized in theatre on stilts. After some time she created her own company, Qabaloqua, with colleagues from South America. They also used stilts in their performances, along with Kathakali Indian Dance movements they had trained for. After some time, Cinzia finally discovered the form with which she could fully apply her incredible imagination. She traveled to Denmark, and here trained with the Odin Theatre, where she learned to use her whole body to tell a story. Cinzia looks forward to coming to Camp Magic Melbourne this year, and helping children to stilt walk, do acrobatics, create costumes, clowning, and directing a street theatre style performance to be performed at the end of each week.
Angela Mee LeeAngela began playing the piano at a very young age. She didn't like practicing, and always thought it was a bit tiresome to have to sit for hours going over the same songs. She has now co-written the music and songs for many musicals. With her classes, she enjoys working collaboratively with children, helping them to find their own songs and voices. Angela is thankful that she stuck with all that practicing, for music has been one of her greatest doorways back to the creative world she so loved as a child. Her favourite things to do when she was little was to make up stories in her head, to imagine being with different people in different places. She also loved being outdoors... running, jumping, playing at the creek near her home in Brisbane. After graduating from university with her Bachelor of Education in Music in Melbourne, Angela started working in schools as a music teacher. She currently teaches at United World College East in Singapore. After a long break from our program, we welcome Angela back to the Camp Magic World! She is excited to be a part of our Melbourne Crew.
Gordon HallA man who loves a good story, tells a great story, and has an amazing sense of humour. Gordon is from New Zealand, and spends about half of his year traveling around the North and South Islands of his country performing in schools and conducting workshops for both children and adults. The other half of Gordon's year is spent touring Australian schools, so some of you may have even had the opportunity to see him already! Gordon will be sharing his passion for story, drama, improvisation and clowning with the children at Camp Magic this year. Please see his website for more about his work. |
